ATM Network Topology Determination

Our ATM network runs a distributed algorithm similar to that used in the Digital Research AN1/AN2 projects, which enables the topology of the network to be discovered; any end-point on our ATM network can issue a meta-signalling request which causes all other end-points and switches to generate a repsonse. From this data, the topology of the network may be deduced and is made available to interested parties (routing processes, for example) via an interface in our CORBA distributed system infrastructure. It can be particularly useful for diagnostic purposes to illustrate this information graphically.
